Model Creation

A lot of people have asked how I make the models we sell here.  All of our models are 3D printed with some of the best 3D printers you can get at this time. Here is the process.

1. I come up with an idea for a model train building or accessory.  I ask myself if it is feasible to 3D print which most are.

2. I start designing it in a CAD system.  I keep working on it until I have a design that can be 3D printed with a lot of detail and look great on a layout.  This can take a day or weeks depending on the model.

3. Once I have the design the way I want it, I do test prints on my 3D printers and work out any issues that may hinder perfect execution.

4. If I can consistantly 3D print a design without issues, I paint one to see how hard it would be to paint, weather and finish. If I don't have a problem finishing the model with paint and weathering, no one else should have an issue.

5. The model then goes into production and onto the website for sale.

Every model I produce goes though this process.  I will not ship anything that is sub-par. It must be fairly easy to finish and look great after.  I will not produce anything that I would not be proud to display on my own layouts and dioramas.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
